Project – JM Packaging

Our latest project was for J M Packaging, one of the leading suppliers of bespoke, flexible packaging for the UK food industry.

The client contacted us with a specific need; eye-catching and unique signage that would be visible from a distance, and give a high-quality first impression.

The brief itself highlighted the importance of illumination, and stipulated that the finished signs must be easily seen from the road and make the building visible to potential customers, visitors and passing trade. Due to the fact that the J M Packaging building has a unique layout, with the entryway and attractive front actually being located at the rear of the building, the brief presented us with a problem to solve. In order for the signage to be seen, two pieces needed to be produced; one for the rear to guide vehicles and visitors in, and then one by the entrance for a visual punch.

To gain better insight into the client’s needs, we visited the site to gain a visual of the building and layout, and also to open up a dialogue about their requirements. We quickly uncovered that the best way to achieve the effect J M Packaging were looking for was to create two pieces of illuminated signage to be placed strategically at two key locations on the facia of the building.

After gaining insight into the client’s requirements, we produced several mock-ups, each with different kinds of illumination to create a different visual aesthetic. In the end, the client decided on halo illumination and illumination to the rim of the face, giving a unique effect that is rarely seen on the high street. We produced two different configurations of the letters JMP – one horizontal on the rear of the building, and one vertical at the front.

The end result was produced and fitted by us, and fulfils the clients brief – providing an eye-catching sign solution, with a high-quality feel. J M Packaging required something unique and highly visible to help them stand out, and this is exactly what we delivered.
